Platypus House is a unique Tasmanian attraction being the only venue where visitors may watch Tasmanian Platypuses and Echidnas in daylight conditions in an indoor setting. Platypus House has been established to advance both community awareness about Tasmanian Platypuses and Echidnas, and science.
On every tour your friendly guide will inform you all about these beautiful egg laying mammals. You are guaranteed to see our animals actively feeding and playing during your tour. Before or after your tour you can enjoy browsing through the Interpretation Room or sit back, relax and watch a 15 minute film about platypuses in the Theatrette. On site we have a Cafe where you can enjoy a great coffee whilst taking in the views of the Tamar River or simply buy a gift to remember your experience at Platypus House from our extensive Gift Shop.
